Anesthesia Touch's Print Service allows the Anesthesia Touch application to send records to your local printer securely and to print the anesthesia schedule. Below are instructions for installing the print service on your local server.
- In a browser, go to build.qa.plexusis.com and select the “Print Service”
- In the PrintServiceDeployment screen, select “Install”
- Follow the prompts in the installer to run the software
- A Print Service Deployment dialog will open
- In the Domain field, enter the domain for your site
- Select “Install.” The Print Service Deployment will apply green checkmarks as components are installed
- If the Virtual Print Driver for the Anesthesia Schedule doesn’t print, select the “Virtual Print Driver” tab to install and configure the driver
Once this setup is complete, please contact Plexus Support to verify the certificate installation.
** These instructions are made assuming minimal knowledge of Microsoft Windows. **
- On the Touch Connect server, add a folder to C:\Program Files\PlexusTG\ named Plexus Print Service.
- You can accomplish this by opening file explorer and navigating to C:\Program Files\PlexusTG\
- Inside the folder, you should see a toolbar near the top with a drop-down for New, click it and choose folder. If you do not have a drop-down, then you should have a "New Folder" button that you can click.
- A new folder icon will appear named "New folder" with its text highlighted. Rename it to: Plexus Print Service and press enter. If the text for the folder name was not highlighted, you will need to right click the new folder, choose Rename, and then proceed with renaming it as mentioned in step 3.
- Copy the entire contents of the Printer folder in the extracted zip file that you downloaded containing the latest print service into the new Plexus Print Service directory.
- Download the attached file: PrintServiceHost.exe.config.
- If the file has a .txt extension on the end of it, remove it so that it is named the same as above.
- Paste the PrintServiceHost.exe.config file into the C:\Program Files\PlexusTG\Plexus Print Service\ directory. When it prompts you asking you to confirm that you want to overwrite the file, choose Yes/Overwrite.
- Open CMD, Powershell, or Terminal, depending on your Windows version, with administrative privileges. After this step, the window that you just opened will be referred to as the terminal window in subsequent steps.
- In the new window, type (include both quotation marks): CD "C:\Program Files\PlexusTG\Plexus Print Service\"
- Press the Enter key.
- Type install.bat
- Press the Enter key.
- If you receive an error, please take a screenshot of the terminal window and send to Plexus Support. Installing this service requires that .Net Framework 4 be installed. If it is not, install that first.
- Once the install is successful, in the open terminal window, type: services.msc
- Press the Enter key.
- Scroll down to Plexus Print Service and ensure that the service is running and set to
- automatically start.
- We also recommend that you set the recovery options on this service. Right-click the Plexus Print Service and choose Properties. Navigate to the Recovery tab. In each of the failure dropdowns, select Restart the Service, then click Apply, followed by OK. You can now close the services and terminal windows.
Notes:
If you are doing an upgrade, you shouldn't have to install anything else. If you are installing fresh, then you will need to install the print service again (see above instructions).
Printers are mapped in Plexus by printer name (Printer->Properties, top of general tab). Our service routes printers to the correct printer. The printers must be installed locally, using their IP addresses. If they have to be installed again after the upgrade, then you should use the same Windows name for the printer.
As long as the printers keep the same IP addresses and name, then you should not have to do anything else except possibly re-install the print service if it's gone after the upgrade.
